Bio Cecilia Peçanha

 

Cecilia began her studies in music with the recorder, voice and guitar. Many years ago has dedicated her academic and professional ways to Early Music throughout the recorder and sing having participated of several projects / ensembles / courses, including: Neuma University Ensemble of Early Music, Tetracorde Consort (both of the House of Culture / UEL / Londrina).

She participated in several International Music Festivals of Early Music in Londrina and Juíz de Fora (Minas Gerais, Brazil). She has been a member of the Relicário do Folclore (project support by PROMIC - Londrina Prefecture) where she focused on the research and dissemination of Brazilian popular culture through research and interpretation of traditional music.

She holds a Bachelor degree in Early Music - Recorder - by ESMAE -School of Music and Performing Arts, with Pedro Sousa Silva, having received 20 of 20 in her final exam. Supported by an Erasmus Scholarship she studied a semester at the Brussels Royal Conervatory.

She holds a Master degree in Early Music / recorder, by the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, where she studied with Bart Coen and Peter de Clercq.

She has participated in masterclasses with several teachers, including: Michael Posch, Peter Memelsdorff, Joris Van Goethem, Dorothee Oberlinger, Pedro Castro, Kees Boeke, Marco Magalhaes, David Castello, Fernando Paz, David Linx, Ana Mafalda Castro, Tommaso Rossi, Pedro Novaes, Jill Feldman, Magna Ferreira, among others.

She is currently a recorder player in the ensemble – Les Alchimistes. She recorderd a CD (Ciclorama, 2011) with A presença das Formigas, portuguese popular music. She is guitar player, singer, recorder player, flute player and manager of the Blue Bossa Liberté quartet, where she recorderd 2 albuns in Belgium, one of them supported by Ça Balance and the Federation Wallonie-Bruxelles.

She taught recorder at the Conservatory of Music of Porto, the German School of Porto, Bando dos Gambozinos and at the Conservatory of Music of Aveiro and Gaia (all in Portugal).

She participated in the Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference in the Birmingham University, England, 06/2014 and In ULB in Brussels (07/2015) presenting a lecture about the Codex Faenza and the diminution/improvisation practice in Middle Ages. She gave an workshop of Renaissance improvisation and recorder lessons in the 26º International Londrina Music Festival (2016, Brazil).

She finished Post-Graduation in recorder / jazz with Kris Defoort in the Royal Conservatorie of Brussels, receiving 18 (from 20) points in her final recital exam.

Currently she is teacher of recorder, and flute in the Jan-Niklaas music school in Dworp/Halle, recorder and guitar in MusicArt and Eveil Musical in Imagine music school (all in Belgium).

Acutally she is studying Agrégation / Pedagogical Studies, in the Royal Conservatoire de Bruxelles.
